Helping Heroes Fly – September 2017 Update

Last weekend we attended Helping Heroes Fly’s annual fundraiser. We were able to donate an American Flag pallet art piece for one of their door prizes. I have to admit that I was really proud to see that our pallet was the most bidded on door prize of the evening. We have to give a big shout out to Les & Joan Peterson of Evelyn Peterson Farms for donating the wood, and to Jake Figgs for making the piece. See how it turned out below.
At the fundraiser, it was neat to see how other businesses are supporting this great cause. But Lori got a special recognition that evening for her volunteer service. She was quoted when she described volunteering at the 5K Color Run, “There is something so primal and satisfying when throwing color in someone’s face!”
At the fundraiser, we got to hear from a veteran of the Korean War how Helping Heroes Fly has been a needed charity for many years now. He described how one of his fellow Marines needed to get home for a family emergency. He said that all the guys in his battalion tried to pitch in what they had left over from their pay check to go to a ticket for him to get home. Even that wasn’t enough for them to buy a ticket. We hope and pray that Helping Heroes Fly becomes a household name so that they never have to close applications for future military families’ airfare needs.
Check out what Helping Heroes Fly has been able to achieve this past month. This is the last week with them as our Charity of the Quarter. If you would like to help them out, please REFER a friend for insurance with us, and we will donate to Helping Heroes Fly for every referral!
