Charity of the Quarter: Colorado Model Railroad Museum
This summer we had the opportunity to sponsor a community treasure for our charity of the quarter. The Colorado Model Railroad Museum. A non-profit organization set on educating and preserving the unique hobby of Model Railroad building.
This museum is the brainchild of founder, Dave Trussell. The museum boasts a fantastic, and functioning model railroad that spans over 5,500 ft. It’s not hard to see why CMRM holds a special place in the hearts of northern Coloradans, both young and old. They often hold interactive events for kids, and students in district 6, through this CMRM has been able to continue sharing the joy that so many have found building model railroads and using their creative gifts.
Jim Hediger (Senior Editor of Model Railroad Magazine) Once described as mile long track as “the finest model railroad I have ever seen”. It is no surprise this family friendly attraction has continued to attract visitors from all over.
At Union Colony Insurance, Lori, Mark, and Grant recently had the opportunity to support the Colorado Model Railroad Museum by attending their yearly fundraiser, the third annual “Hobo Stew”. It was a wonderful night of live music, good food, and fun activities. Lori even won gifts at the raffle! To top it off the famous 844 Steam Engine stopped by to start off the night’s festivities. All in all, it was a blast for everyone who attended.
If you’d like to support the Colorado Railroad Museum, consider donating or coming to their yearly fundraisers the “Hobo Stew” or “History of Hobo Days” next year!
