Farewell Kerry!

| 389 Words | 2 Min Read | D. Hiester |

After 5 years with Union Colony Insurance, we say goodbye to Kerry, who consistently made us all laugh, scratch our heads, and say, “Oh Kerry…” so many times. Kerry has accepted a position in Cheyenne, Wyoming working with the National Guard. He will be doing recruiting work in the surrounding schools, continuing to help our country ’s military efforts.

There are many stories that would help capture what Kerry has meant to this agency and the community, but on his last day in the office, he shared a story that really shows who he is:

Kerry was driving home when he, like many of us have, passed an older woman on the side of the road that was asking for money. As he continued home, he kept thinking about this woman, and driven by these thoughts, he turned his car around and went back to where this woman stood. Upon returning, he started to inquire about her life, story, and why she was standing on the street corner. Kerry came to find out that she was almost 80 years old, and she was helping raise money for her daughter who was set to have a cancer treatment as soon as she had the money to pay for it. Kerry then asked if she would wait there a moment while he ran home to grab some money, and she obliged. He came back with a couple hundred dollars for the woman, so excited to bless her in that way. Kerry asked her as he gave her the money, “How much were you trying to raise?” She answered that she was trying to raise around $40 more dollars before he had arrived. Kerry was able to give this woman well more than she needed, going above and beyond just to help one more person.

When telling this story to the office, he mentioned, “You know, when people say, “Oh, if only I won the lottery, etc., then I could help people.” they are completely wrong. There are tons of ways to help people right here and right now.”

We will miss Kerry, and that same spirit lives on here in the office. We cannot wait to go above and beyond to help one more person. We will miss you, Kerry!
